Laura Phillips

About Laura

Laura (she/her) is a licensed clinical social worker with over a decade of experience working with people of all ages to improve their mental health and/or learn to navigate developmental disabilities in an often not very accommodating world. It takes strength to seek therapy for oneself or one’s child or teen. The best therapy starts with a genuine, human relationship between client and therapist. Laura holds each person she sees in high regard. When working with youth, she fosters teamwork between herself and parents. She has expertise around trauma and attachment work and gives careful attention to the ways one’s multiple identities and life experiences intersect. She is queer-affirming and loves supporting those who have found, or are in the process of discovering, their true selves. She has training in child-centered play therapy and sand play, and is often amazed how children naturally engage in the process of their own healing. This includes neurodiverse children (e.g. ADHD, autistic, and PDA children). “Traditional” parenting advice has often failed parents, so Laura works with parents collaboratively around their unique challenges.
